Conference "Sustainable Aviation Fuels - Time for take-off"
7-8 November, Divani Palace Acropolis, Athens.
The European Union's Fit for 55 package has accelerated policy initiatives toward climate neutrality, including the RefuelEU Aviation Initiative. This initiative requires aviation fuel suppliers to ensure a minimum share of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) in fuel at EU airports from 2025, with synthetic fuel targets from 2030, both increasing progressively until 2050. Achieving these ambitious targets demands a rapid and significant scale-up of SAF production, posing challenges for the industry, especially in securing investment due to the evolving legislative landscape.
To meet the targets, robust biomass supply chains must be developed, and innovative SAF technologies are still under development. A conference, organized by the Centre of Renewable Energy Sources and Saving under Greece's Ministry of Environment and Energy, aims to inform stakeholders about the actions needed to accelerate the Greek aviation industry's progress. International and Greek experts will address SAF resources, technologies, and market developments for both the EU and Greece, targeting decision-makers in biomass, fuels, and aviation industries.
